Welcome to Wildwood Gardens Garden Day Tour, a breathtaking retreat located in Bilpin, Sydney's Blue Mountains. Owned and nurtured by plant enthusiasts Wayne and Sue Tapping, this enchanting garden has been evolving since 1980, when the Tappings purchased 10 hectares of land. Initially covered with dense trees and scrub, the site offered both open spaces and deep volcanic soil, perfect for creating a stunning garden. Sue's vision was to combine the elegance of a formal garden with the untamed beauty of the surrounding native landscape. Thus, Wildwood Gardens came to life, its name perfectly reflecting the harmony between nature and cultivation. Wayne and Sue's passion for plants has been evident throughout their journey. They previously operated a garden center at North Richmond, as well as a nursery in Kurrajong and South Windsor. Their extensive collection of plants, cultivated over the years, is now scattered throughout the garden. Sue, particularly drawn to cool climate perennials and shrubs, showcases her collection of hellebores, clivias, magnolias, camellias, and hydrangeas. There is always something blooming, creating a year-round spectacle. The garden's first awe-inspiring sight is the weeping cherry walk, inspired by a nursery visit in Melbourne. Wayne was captivated by a row of weeping cherries during this trip. Determined to bring this beauty to Wildwood Gardens, he planted nine pink weeping cherries (Prunus subhirtella 'Rosea'), which now bloom against a backdrop of hellebores in early spring. Join us for an unforgettable Garden Day Tour at Wildwood Gardens, where nature and human artistry intertwine to create a haven of serenity and beauty.
